electrical-storms-today-could-tarnish-the-beginning-of-the-“memorial-day”-holiday-in-new-york;-the-rest-of-the-long-weekend-is-outlined-with-good-weather

Normally the last weekend of May, which coincides with the “Memorial Day” holiday, is considered the informal beginning of summer in the US, with longer days and good weather to go to the beach and other outdoor walks.

In New York and neighboring areas, this year’s summer start is threatened with possible severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, which would then give way to clearer and warmer conditions for a more typical weekend, forecasters predicted.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to hit New York City and areas west across eastern Pennsylvania and western New York. Jersey this afternoon and evening, said Fox Weather, Geoff Bansen.

“The greatest threat is directed to the west of the city… with a strong to severe electrical storm”, Bansen told the New York Post. This could affect those who are willing Heading out of town for the long weekend.

The southwest system is expected to weaken later today Friday, but there is a chance that persistent rains will continue on Saturday, though most of the forecast for tomorrow looks dry. “And then the rest of the holiday weekend looks great,” said the meteorologist.

“Looks like a really nice weekend outside of scattered and isolated pop-up thunderstorms this afternoon and a thunderstorm electric passenger tomorrow”. Highs are expected in the upper 70F (25C) for Saturday and Sunday in New York before becoming “much warmer” on Monday, with a high around 70F (39C) in Central Park, considered the reference thermometer of the city.
