Vincent Labrune, president of the Liga Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), responded to his Spanish counterpart, Javier Tebas, for the criticism leveled against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for the renewal of Kylian Mbappé. This is how the news agency Efe reports it.
“We want to show in the strongest terms our disagreement, as well as our misunderstanding, in the face of his recent attacks against Liga 1 and one of its clubs”, Labrune wrote in an email sent to Thebes, published by various French media such as L’Équipe.
The boss of Ligue 1 added: “ His disrespectful slander now seems to be directed at Kylian Mbappé, who is unanimously recognized as one of the best players in the world and who has simply decided not to join his championship, of his own free will, despite having a similar offer”.
On the criticism of Thebes to the renewal of Mbappé in exchange for large amounts of money, despite the losses accumulated by PSG, Labrune reminds him that the rules of financial balance, of which he repeatedly complains, are rules that he himself helped approve as a member of the Committee EU Executive FA.
The president of the French clubs association recalled that, for decades, Real Madrid and Barcelona were the clubs that closed the best signings in the world, which discredits Tebas for leading his war against what he calls state clubs. In this sense, the criticism of his counterpart is denigrating for Labrune, a position that he considers “unacceptable and manifestly false”.
