mlb-suspends-dominican-carlos-'el-tsunami'-martinez-for-use-of-prohibited-substances

Major League Baseball (MLB) announced this Friday the suspension for 80 games of the Dominican pitcher Carlos ‘El Tsunami’ Martínez for violating the performance-enhancing substance policy.

The report indicates that Martínez tested positive for the drug Ibutamoren, which is on the list of substances Prohibited for use by Major League Baseball players.

Ibutamoren is a stimulant that leads to an increase in the amount of growth hormone secreted by the body.

‘The Tsunami ‘ is currently in Major League Baseball free agency after being released by the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday 17 of this month. Given this situation, Martínez must start his suspension once he reaches an agreement with an MLB team.

In his nine-season career in the Major Leagues, all with the St. Louis Cardinals, Martínez has participated in 402 games, 134 of them as a starter, accumulating mark of 62-52 and an effectiveness of 3.74, in addition to compiling 31 saved games.

The right-hander, born in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, has pitched 967 innings on this tour, in which he has struck out 927 batters and has been tagged with 402 clean runs.
