The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office reported this Friday on the arrest of a woman for the death of four dogs, two of them puppies, which she left for an hour exposed to the imminent sun inside a car in the town from New Smyrna, on the northeast coast of Florida, to go eat with her boyfriend.
The young woman identified as Tesia White, from 25 years old, is a resident of the state of Missouri, and was arrested and charged with four counts of “animal cruelty” for the death of her four pets.
The breed of the dogs was: a Goldendoodle, 4 years old, a Boxer, 2 years old, and two Goldendoodle puppies, from 10 weeks, who died after a heat wave inside the car.
According to Wesh, the woman stated that when she finished having lunch with her boyfriend, an hour later, and he returned to his car to find that the dogs were already very ertos.
Furthermore, the authorities stated that the air conditioning was turned off when the dogs were found dead.
“I should not be allowed to have a dog. I can’t believe I let this happen,” the young woman told the agents.
According to the report police, the outside temperature reached 89 degrees Fahrenheit (31.89 degrees centigrade) during the time the dogs were alone inside the car.
The Volusia Sheriff’s Office made an appeal to the population through social networks in which he commented that “a hot holiday weekend is expected” and that “never leave children, disabled adults or pets in a hot vehicle. The results can be deadly,” she warned.
