The Brazilian defender Marcelo Vieira could not contain the tears caused by the great ovation he received at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, in what would be his farewell from Real Madrid after winning the Champions League this Saturday.

The defender, who is the player who has won the most titles in the history of the white house team, thanked his fans for all the support and affection they have given him during his time at the club.

Marcelo was hugged by his companions when he they realized that he was crying during the tribute held this Sunday at the home of Real Madrid.

“It is a wonderful moment in my life, I close a cycle here, in the best team in the world. Today is not a day of sadness, it is a day of joy because we have once again won the best championship in the world. I am very proud of me, and my family is too”, assured the Brazilian.

Marcelo also highlighted all the moments he has experienced at Real Madrid, and he trusts that the new generations will do very well.

“We have lived many magical nights together. I tell you one thing, the future of Madrid is very good with the new generations”, he added.

Broken by emotion, Marcelo walked around the field with his teammates and then raised the cup of the Champions League to heaven.

“I’m quite happy. My family is happy too, and seeing the joy on my family’s face is priceless. I think I will continue at the club”, he sentenced.

Marcelo arrived at Real Madrid when he was barely 18 years old, and has achieved a historic trajectory during 16 years.

This Saturday the Brazilian confirmed that his time with Real Madrid was coming to an end after the Merengue team’s triumph in the Champions League final against Liverpool.
