The cornerback of the Arizona Cardinals of the NFL, Jeff Gladney, died this Monday at 25 years after a car accident that occurred this Sunday at dawn while traveling on a highway near downtown Dallas, Texas.

The information was officially released by the Cardinals team itself to through his Twitter, in a story that was later replicated in the league account.

“We are devastated to learn of the passing of Jeff Gladney. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and everyone who is mourning this tremendous loss,” reported the Arizona team.

Hours earlier, it had been his agent, Brian Overstreet, who had given released the news and had asked for “prayers and privacy at this very difficult time.”

At the moment, the police authorities have not reported details about what caused the crash in which Gladney died and if anyone else was involved in the event.

The defensive player had recently signed a two-year contract with the Cardinals, this after playing his only season in 550 with the Minnesota Vikings, from which he was selected in the first round of the draft.

Gladney played 15 games in which she left 81 total tackles, three pass deflections and a fumble in his rookie year.

Later in March 2021 was cut by VIkings after being involved in a complaint of serious assault by your ex-partner; he was declared innocent of the charge but did not participate with any NFL team.

However, his former team also dedicated a heartfelt message to him on social networks.

“We saddens the tragic death of Jeff Gladney. Our hearts go out to his family, his friends, and the Arizona Cardinals organization, as well as his teammates and coaches who are mourning the loss of his life,” reported his former team.

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jalen Reagor, a former college teammate and friend of Gladney and his Cardinals teammates Victor Dimukeje, Zach Allen, Zaven Collins, Isaiah Simmons and JJ Watt also dedicated messages of support for their family and friends.

“I lost my brother, my best friend, my right hand… there isn’t much more I can take! Rest in peace Jeff Gladney bro take care of me please,” Reagor wrote on his Twitter.
