The Chivas de Guadalajara won this Monday in a series of penalties by 3-0 to the Rayadas de Monterrey to win the trophy of Champion of Champions of the season 2021- 2021 of the Mexican Women’s Soccer League.
The second leg ended 0-0 in regular time, which added to the tie of 1- 1 in the first leg last Friday, forced a penalty shootout.
Alicia Cervantes, Casandra Montero and Joseline Montoya converted the penalties for Guadalajara, Clausura champion 2022, while the Monterrey shooters, monarch of the Apertura 2021, Desirée Monsiváis, Mariana Cadena and Rebeca Bernal missed their shots.
The Champion of Champions is disputed between the monarch teams of the Opening and Closing tournament of the year football and defines the best team of the season. The award is given from the campaign 2020-2021.
The first team that obtained this trophy was the Tigres UANL after being crowned two-time champions for winning the Apertura 2020 and the Clausura 2020.
The teams played an even first half, with opportunities to open the scoring for both teams.
Monterrey was the first to send the warnings with a header by Desirée Monsiváis at minute 14 and a shot by Diana Evangelista at 23 saved by goalkeeper Celeste Espino.
After that, Guadalajara took center stage, with two shots by Alicia Cervantes saved by goalkeeper Alejandría Godínez to 39 and 41.
