Dominican left-hander Framber Valdez pitched a complete game, while Cuban Yordan Álvarez and Venezuelan José Altuve sent the ball behind the fence for the Houston Astros to conquer Oakland by defeating the Athletics 1-5 on Monday.

Valdez (5-1) put on a pitching display in his first complete game of the season, allowing only two hits and one run in nine innings in which he retired seven for strikeout.

The left-hander, who had his best performance of the season, has pitched six or more innings of three runs or less in his last seven appearances, allowing an RBI single to outfielder, also Dominican, Ramón Laureano in the sixth inning, to be the only score he allowed in the game.

Cuban Álvarez rang his bat, with the first of two homers in the fourth inning, when he showed his power to the Athletics’ starter, Paul Blackburn (5-1), envi I walk the ball to 469 feet from the plate, between right and center fields, giving the first run of the game to the Astros.

Blackburn (5-1) was punished for four runs in 6.2 innings and ended up rattling off five strikeouts to be the loser.

For the Astros, Álvarez hit two home runs in four at-bats, with two runs scored and two RBIs; Altuve left with two RBIs and one scored, registering two hits in four at-bats with the wood; and Maldonado 4-1, with runs scored and RBI.

The victory of the Astros ended up being the 33 of this season, with which they lead along with the Yankees, Mets and Dodgers as the teams with the most wins this season in the Major Leagues.
