'there's-a-room-full-of-victims':-chilling-new-audio-from-texas-school-shooting

New audio from the Texas school massacre captures the harrowing moment a police officer reports that a terrified student told him he was in a “room full of victims”.

The chilling recording is heard in a video obtained by ABC News showing police responding to the shooting of the 19 May at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, where 19 children and two teachers died.

“Warning, we have a child on the line”, an unidentified dispatcher can be heard saying. “Room 12. Can we… is there someone inside the building at this…?”

“The boy notices that he is in the room full of victims”, says the dispatcher before repeating: “Full of victims at this time ”.

In the video, you can see the police officers the distance, helping the children to escape from the school through an open window.

The Uvalde police have been harshly criticized for waiting to break into the room where the shooter Salvador Ramos, of 12 years, he had holed up with several students, falsely believing he had barricaded himself in and was no longer a threat for the students.

The children hiding in that room made a series of harrowing calls to 911 and they were locked inside with the gunman, with a child pleading with an officer “please send the police now!”

The calls were made until moments before Ramos was killed, which shows that the people were still alive in the classroom even though authorities believed the killing had stopped.

The Justice Department announced Sunday that it will investigate the Uvalde police response to the shooting.
