The mattress fans did not like a response on Twitter in which they sent a photo with the Champions League title to a follower who reproached them for their statements.

In fact, even the very same Mayor of the Community of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, criticized Courtois’s words with a forceful message.

“Courtois made me enjoy a lot, a lot for years. But just one thing, Courtois, and let me tell you with love: those of us who cried in Lisbon with you and by your side are also on the good side. We all fit on the good side of this city,” said Martínez-Almeida.

After the altercation, the fans asked that Courtois’ plaque be removed by the club. Even in the tribute they paid this Monday to Ángel María Villar, the journalists asked Enrique Cerezo about that option, and he replied: “Well, nothing, take a pick and a shovel and go take it off.”
