Two people dead and 12 detained is the result of a confrontation between police officers and members of a criminal gang registered in the Punta Salinas resort in Toa Baja, municipality on the north coast of Puerto Rico.

The Police of the Caribbean island reported this Monday through a statement that after an investigation carried out by the security forces to prevent criminal incidents at the hands of a organization suspected of multiple murders, an exchange of gunfire ensued.

The event follows an investigation that is part of the strategies that seek to remove criminals from the streets contained in the Security Plan of the Government of Puerto Rico.

In the incident, occurred at the exit of the Punta Salinas resort, the agents repelled the attack, resulting in the death of two individuals and the arrest of twelve members of the organization.

In addition s, six weapons were seized, all of them altered, and six vehicles, one of which was reported stolen.

None of the agents was injured in the altercation with the criminal gang.

The criminal organization was led by an individual identified as Edwin Rivera Pérez, known in the underworld as “Bubu”, who led a criminal group linked to multiple murders in the municipalities of Bayamón and Cataño.

One of the individuals who was killed in the shooting was under arrest warrant for having removed the control shackle.
