Surveillance images in a Seattle house captured the moment in which a mother runs after her daughter after she was excited to see a small black bear in her garden and tried to reach him to “hug” him.

Security footage of the home at Samantha Martin’s residence in Redmond, at 20 minutes drive from downtown Seattle, they recorded the dramatic moment when their baby, Juniper, screams at the sight of a black puppy running down a concrete path in their backyard garden.

“Juniper, go back inside”, says Martin as he chases after his young daughter.

Here are the images of the encounter with the black bear:

That’s a bear! ! the girl gasps excitedly, running toward the wild mammal, whose apex predator mother was probably nearby. As soon as she starts to move forward, her mother runs across the room and picks her up before the girl was out of her reach.

‘I just panicked. I really didn’t have a lot of thoughts at the time, so much as getting the girl out and going back in,” Martin told FOX 13 .

“It was just a little bear, but my biggest concern was not necessarily the bear, but that I didn’t know where the mother was and I didn’t know how she would feel if two humans ran towards her baby”. ‘she added.

The baby was watching a movie at the time she saw the wild animal. Martin believes that the two-year-old girl opened a door that led to the patio of the house, where the bear appeared, before the incident.

The young mother further stated that her daughter ran towards the bear because the creature fluffy was his favorite animal after learning to identify them through a children’s picture book.

However, since the incident, the girl has learned more about bears and how dangerous interactions with humans can be.

“I told him the bear was dangerous and we’ve been watching National Geographic,” said Martin.

The mother also learned that the bear was eating from the house’s now crushed bird feeder in the backyard.

As a result of the incident, he added a child lock to the patio door and got rid of the feed trough to prevent a similar situation in the future.

The family home was built near a greenway and not far from a good sized local golf course, where wildlife is noticeable.

Following the incident, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) alerted residents that bears are coming out of hibernation season and are hungry for prey as summer approaches.
