It still seems far to start making predictions about the third fight between Canelo Álvarez and Gennady Golovkin next 16 in September, but for the promoter Eddie Hearn that is not a problem because he was encouraged to talk about the fight this Monday.
During an interview for the boxing YouTube channel Ifl TV, Hearn expressed that he is completely sure that in this time the fight will not go away until round number 12.
For the president and founder of Matchroom Sport the fight for either of the two parties will end in a knockout, but he did not dare to say if it would be Canelo or Gennady who would defeat.
“Trust me, this fight is absolutely huge and an absolute thriller. Not in a million years does it go 12 rounds. I think I heard from Golovkin’s side that they didn’t like the fact that he won’t last 12 rounds. I’m not saying Canelo stops him. I’m saying the fight doesn’t last 12 rounds this time“He pointed out on YouTube.
In addition, Hearn recalled that both fighters do not have a good relationship outside the ring, so a quite personal and not so commercial fight will be expected.
“They can’t stand each other. I could barely get a sentence out of them for the press release. When I put them together, you will see,” he added.
We will have to wait until September to find out if Hearn’s forecasts will come true, in what will be the third fight between the Mexican and the Russian; the first one, in 2017, ended in a very controversial draw while a year later Canelo Álvarez was crowned by split decision.
