The father of the 10-year-old Hispanic minor accused in Florida of threatening to carry out a shooting at his school burst into tears when questioned by the media.
Dereck Márquez, Daniel Issac’s father, is still trying to process the news of his son’s arrest after he sent compromising text messages to a friend.
“ At this point I don’t feel comfortable talking because I don’t want to make a mistake,” Márquez told the New York Post between tears.
“I appreciate not having to speak now“, she insisted.
“I appreciate not having to speak now”, she repeated between tears. “When I feel comfortable, I’m definitely going to call you,” he added.
Before cutting off the interview completely, the 15 year-old man said that he hired a lawyer for his son.
In the family home in Cape Coral, there were weapons owned by the man, For his part, County Sheriff Lee Carmine Marceno reported to the same medium.
“There were weapons in his house,” revealed Marceno, who added that the man had acquired them legally.
“I don’t know exactly how they were stored, but I understand that by making that threat, there are weapons in the house, so that brings about a totally different dynamic,” said the spokesman.
Marceno was also unable to specify what type of weapons. The minor allegedly shared a Google image, as part of the messages, of an AR-15. The boy allegedly said that he had bought it and that he was ready for “water day” or aquatics, referring to a special event at his aquatics school.
“The last thing we want to do is put handcuffs on a minor 10 years old, it is the last thing we want to do”, Marcus raised. “But I have to be consistent with that message, and that message is: false threat, real consequence. I’m going back to the old school”.
