A North Carolina man who won a $10 million dollar lottery prize will spend the rest of his life in prison after been involved in a fatal shooting.

Michael Todd Hill, aged 54, won the grand lottery prize in 2017, but was convicted Friday of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for a fatal shooting at 2017 in where his ex-girlfriend, Keonna Graham, aged 23 passed away, according to Fox News.

Graham was initially reported missing before of being found dead in a hotel room with a gunshot wound to the back of the head on 20 July 2020.

The hotel manager, Vee Patel said Hill checked into the room alone before a housekeeper found Graham’s body.

“I ​​think it’s horrible. I mean, he just won the lottery. I heard you just got married and you go and kill a young lady? A beautiful young lady? I don’t understand,” said Tiffany Wilson, a friend of the deceased.

Hill, a former worker at a nuclear plant, was arrested in July 2020 and he finally admitted to killing his girlfriend, according to Fox News.

Three years before the murder, Hill earned $10 million dollars with an Ultimate Millions Instant Ticket. After winning the prize, he gave $2,10 dollars to the cashier who sold him the ticket.
