This Tuesday, Ryan García’s new fight was confirmed for this year after defeating Emmanuel Tagoe in April. This time the King Ry will compete against the two-time world champion Javier Fortuna, a Dominican from 31 years of age who has a good punch and had already agreed to fight him before.
It will be the main fight on the card to be held next Thursday 16 June 2022 at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles (California). These boxers were supposed to meet in July 2021, but García was unable to take on the challenge due to mental health problems. On that card, Fortuna fell against Joseph Díaz Jr. and last February he knocked down Rafael Hernández in Santo Domingo, just in the first round.
At stake will be the World Boxing Council (WBC) interim lightweight world champion belt.
With this fight, the long-awaited García vs. ‘Pitbull’ Cruz will have to wait a little longer. And King Ry is served by this fight to know if he is ready to take responsibility for what it means to get on the rope against the Mexican Cruz.
