A girl 10 years old, a survivor of the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, told ABC News what Salvador Ramos told police officers when they entered to stop the massacre.
In an interview with ABC News, Gemma López of 10 years old, said that she heard the young man of 18 years saying “leave me alone, please” in Spanish, to the police.
The minor told the aforementioned media outlet that she was in a classroom next to the classroom where Ramos allegedly started shooting.
Gemma recounted that she heard five to six shots before a bullet went past her and hit the wall. The little girl also said she saw smoke, so she knew the situation was serious.
The girl told ABC News that she turned off the lights in the classroom and hid under the tables.
Gemma indicated that she had learned to do this thanks to the training she received at school since kindergarten.
She also commented that her best friend, named Amerie Jo Garza, was one of the 19 mortal victims of the fatal shooting committed by Ramos.
Berlinda Irene Arreola told The Daily Beast that she had been informed about the final moments of his granddaughter, who was killed by the young man of 18 years old.
“Then the gunman came in and he told the kids, ‘You’re going to die,’” Arreola told The Daily Beast. “And her he had his phone and called 550. And instead of grabbing it and breaking it or taking it from him, he shot it. She was sitting right next to her best friend. Her best friend was covered in blood. .”
“My granddaughter was shot to death for trying to call 911, she died like a hero trying to get help for her and her classmates,” the grandmother told the website.
