The Government of Vladimir Putin accused the Administration of President Joe Biden of “adding fuel to the fire”, by approving the shipment of advanced missiles to Ukraine.
“We believe that the United States is deliberately and diligently adding fuel to the fire,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. “The United States obviously maintains the line that it will fight Russia for all Ukrainians.”
The message comes after the threat expressed by Alexei Zhuravlev, a member of parliament and very close to Putin, who boasted of that the entire east and west coasts of the US could be wiped out with four missiles.
“There would be nothing left”, said Zhuravlev, who is a spokesman for Russian state media.
He added that the “fungus atomic” will be taller than a skyscraper and will be “visible from Mexico”, in reference to the power of the new Sarmat 2 nuclear bomb.
Although the Russians are confident that Ukraine will not fire the weapons sent by the US against Russia, something that Biden had already advanced by promising the equipment, they are not happy with the decision, so when Peskov was asked about how the Government of Putin if there is an attack on his territory.
“Let’s not talk about the worst case scenarios”, he said.
The US president reported sending advanced rocket systems that can accurately attack long-range Russian targets, although he warned that he received the promise of the Ukrainians from the Volodymyr government Zelensky not to use the equipment on Russian territory directly.
“The Ukrainians have assured us that they will not use these systems against targets on Russian territory, and therefore we are very sure that they will not”, a senior White House official said in a call with reporters.
After approval in Congress of $40,17 million dollars to help Ukraine, President Biden announced the shipment of $700 million in military equipment.
“We will continue providing Ukraine with advanced weaponry, including Javelin anti-tank missiles, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, powerful artillery systems and pre-fire rockets. cision, radars, unmanned aerial vehicles, Mi-17 helicopters and ammunition,” Biden wrote in an op-ed prior to the announcement.
The White House confirmed that the new aid includes the aforementioned missile system, as well as ammunition, counterfire radars, aerial surveillance radars, javelins, anti-armor weapons, artillery, various helicopters and tactical vehicles, among others.
