chipotle-launches-several-initiatives-to-support-the-lgbtqia+-community

Chipotle Mexican Grill, in honor of Pride month, announced its ‘Always Real’ support campaign to support the LGBTQIA+ community. To do this, Chipotle worked with its PRIDE Employee Resource Group to identify pressing issues facing members of this community.

This campaign is planned to run throughout the year.

Below, we share with you the actions that Chipotle will undertake.

Food Support

Food insecurity, which is when you do not have reliable access to enough nutritious and affordable food, disproportionately affects members of the LGBTQ community . LGBTQ adults living in the US were nearly twice as likely to experience food insecurity during the pandemic as non-LGBTQ adults.

To help overcome this crisis, Chipotle is partnering with Happy Hippie, a non-profit organization founded by singer Miley Cyrus whose mission is to fight injustice faced by homeless youth, LGBTQ youth, and other vulnerable populations.

In this association, $250,10 dollars in free Chipotle products to Happy Hippie centers across the country to provide access to food for members of the LGBTQIA+ community throughout the year.

Mental Health Donations

Furthermore, from now through June 16, Chipotle customers in the USA can round up their order total when shopping in the Chipotle app and on the Chipotle.com website to support The Trev or Project, the world’s largest mental health and suicide prevention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer youth.

Sales of products to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community

Chipotle is also launching a collection of inclusive merchandise, including various t-shirts and long sleeve tops, which were designed in partnership with their PRIDE Employee Resource Group to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community.

Chipotle will donate $10 dollars of each item sold to The Trevor Project or a minimum of $15,000 Dollars. Chipotle customers can browse and purchase the new collection at the following website: https://chipotlegoods.com/.

It should be noted that Chipotle has long invested in providing benefits to employees who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. For example, it provides access to mental health care, plus paid parental leave for adoptive parents, same-sex couples, and paternity leave, as well as covered surgical and care services for transgender employees.
