construction-workers-in-florida-find-“mummified”-body-of-a-baby-while-working-on-a-property

MIAMI – The US authorities discovered the “mummified” body of a baby during works carried out on a property in the northwestern region of Florida, local media reported this Wednesday.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the baby’s “mummified” remains were discovered Tuesday by workers in a mound of dirt, the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office said in a message on its Facebook account.

Seeing what appeared to be human remains, the workers called the Police, who went to the site, where a fast food restaurant is planned to be built.

No information was given about the age, or how long the body may have been buried, or if there are indications of the possible cause of death of the minor, although the investigators are working with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine these details.

The discovery occurred in the small town of Wewahitchka, of about 1,800 inhabitants and located in the northwestern part of Florida known as “Panhandle”.

This is the second time in a few weeks in which a similar event is recorded in Florida.

The past 12 in April, a group of construction workers unearthed what appeared to be human bones that had allegedly “been there for a long time” at a construction site in Fernandina Beach, on the border between the states of Florida and Georgia.
