A doctor from Miami, Florida, faces criminal charges for trying to buy a minor 12 years old to have sex with her.
Court documents cited by Crime Online indicate that the charges against Alan Li, age 26, stemmed from a complaint by a woman in Ohio who contacted federal agents about the doctor’s alleged moves to look for girls in Miami for a friend.
The female revealed to investigators that she met Li more than a year ago on a dating app and spent a night with him.
In that meeting, the woman confessed that when she was girl had been a victim of sex trafficking. After that date, Li contacted her again in March.
“You said you were trafficked, right? “, She reads a message that Li sent her. “My friend wants to meet young girls and is willing to pay, can you help him?” continued the suspect.
Li told him that his friend’s name was “Michael Chen” and put “Chen ” in contact with her. The woman told authorities that she suspected Li and Chen were the same person. Agents later discovered that Li logged out of Snapchat and logged in under Chen at the same IP address registered at his home.
Subsequently, an undercover agent posed as a trafficker. Chen agreed to pay the officer $12 to allegedly have sex with a minor 12 for one hour. The alleged abuser requested that the payment be in cash or Bitcoin so as not to have to expose his social security number.
Both agreed to meet on 12 April for the one-hour meeting. But, the man canceled and contacted the woman to make sure the alleged trafficker was trustworthy.
In April 29, the agent and the suspect returned to talk in a second attempt to see if the “agreement” was finalized. Again, it was not done.
Agents Li was arrested on May 12 on charges of attempted human trafficking.
Li was fired from Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach , where he worked as a resident doctor.
