To have more workforce and provide better service to taxpayers and businesses, the IRS announced today that it wants to hire more than 4,000 people this summer to be contact representatives in various of their offices around the country.

What a contact representative does is provide administrative and technical assistance to people and businesses primarily by phone, or through mail, or in person.

These full-time jobs fall under a special hiring condition called a direct hiring authority. Full-time bilingual (English and Spanish) positions are also available. It is not required that you have any previous experience in tax matters.

“The IRS continues to increase its workforce at 2022 to improve the taxpayer experience. We have a variety of positions available across the country. Contact representatives, among other things, deal directly with taxpayers by helping them with their tax obligations,” said Ken Corbin, Taxpayer Experience Officer and Commissioner of the IRS Division of Wages and Investments.

The IRS offers competitive pay, as well as benefits, on-the-job training, and advancement opportunities.

Job shift availability varies by location, but there is day (which would be between 6: 00 am to 6: 00 pm) mid shifts (which would be 10: 00 am to 10 : 00 pm) and afternoon shift (which would be 2: 00 pm to 1: 30 am) at 22 cities throughout the country, including Puerto Rico.
