Walt Disney Studios has finally released the first trailer and confirmed the release date for director Robert Zemeckis’ upcoming live-action movie ‘Pinocchio’.
Coming to Disney+ on September 8, the film features an all-star cast led by Oscar winner Tom Hanks as Geppetto and is a remake of the classic children’s story, telling the story of a puppet who undertakes an adventure to become a real boy.
Zemeckis wrote the screenplay for his adaptation with Chris Weitz, Derek Hogue and Andrew Miano. Paul Weitz, Jackie Levine, Jack Rapke, Alexandra Derbyshire, and Jeremy Johns served as executive producers.
Famous MCU composer Alan Silvestri has collaborated once again with Zemeckis to compose the score for the film. This is also the fourth time Hanks has collaborated with Zemeckis after ‘Forrest Gump’, ‘The Cast Away’ and ‘The Polar Express’.
‘Pinocchio’ also stars Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy, Keegan-Michael Key as Honest John, Lorraine Bracco as new character Sofia the Seagull, Luke Evans as the coachman and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as the voice of Pinocchio.
The film will be a new version of the film by 1940, which was an adaptation of the 1883 children’s novel ‘The Adventures of Pinocchio’ by Italian author Carlo Collodi , although an official synopsis has not yet been released.
