Taco Bell said in a statement that it is working diligently with its restaurants and suppliers to obtain more ingredients to make more Mexican pizzas, and the chain expects it to return permanently this fall.
The popular dish was discontinued in November 2020 when the pandemic was at its peak. That helped Taco Bell streamline its meal preparation processes and lower costs during the crisis.
Mexican pizza consists of a tortilla filled with pizza sauce and beans or ground meat. It is covered with another tortilla covered with more sauce, cheese and chopped tomatoes. Taco Bell introduced the dish in 1985 and originally called it ‘Pizzazz Pizza’.
