A young Asian man aged 20 was stabbed in the middle of a dispute with a stranger in a moving subway car in Brooklyn yesterday afternoon, and hours later there was another case in the Bronx, this morning.
The first suspect stabbed the victim around 3: 12 pm during the discussion near York Street train station on the F line in Dumbo. The unidentified injured man was taken to NYU Langone Health-Cobble Hill in stable condition.
Police recovered the knife at the scene, but were unclear about the source of the argument. The suspect fled after the altercation. He was described as about 20 years old and was wearing a black shirt and yellow pants, detailed New York Post.
In the second case, the victim was inside a No. 2 northbound train at East 149th Station blasting music volume with his passenger when the suspect began arguing with him about the noise, according to authorities. The dispute escalated and the suspect stabbed the victim in the forearm early this morning around 1 am before fleeing the scene. The unidentified injured man was taken to the hospital in stable condition, reported Pix11.
The attacks of yesterday and last night closed and opened other violent months in the New York Subway, including the shooting death of a Hispanic inside a train, randomly attacked on 22 May for a gunman with 19 arrests previous. That same day, hours later, an old man aged 73 was hit in the face by a teenager.
Mayor Eric Adams, a former police officer whose election campaign focused on public safety, has implemented several measures to make subways safer, including deploying more police officers, he recalled Pix11. But the violence has not subsided.
Previously, April was one of the most violent months in the history of the New York Subway since its foundation in 1904. On Tuesday 12, dozens of people were injured in a morning crime perpetrated by a lone gunman, who shot and set off at least two grenades on a moving train in Brooklyn.
A strong 84% of New Yorkers believe that conditions have worsened in the city since March 2020, when the pandemic began, according to a recent survey. The majority cited the problems in the Metro as one of the main reasons for urban deterioration.
