On Wednesday, CNN correspondent Shimon Prokupecz shared the short video lasting less than 20 seconds, in which four law enforcement officers standing in the parking lot of the Uvalde Consolidated School District headquarters.
“Just so you know, the Uvalde police are on their way and once they get here, they will start issue criminal searches of the property,” an official tells reporters.
Express-News reporter Guillermo Contreras said via Twitter that district officials told him something similar.
“UvaldeISD Chief Pete Arredondo in school district offices. District officials say his building is private property and the police are ordering the media to leave the lot,” Contreras detailed.
The CNN correspondent tweeted that he was at the district headquarters to report on the chief of Uvalde School District Police Officer Pedro “Pete” Arredondo.
Prokupecz added that a school spokesperson came out to meet with reporters before a live feed to say the school would release a statement . However, he declined to answer the correspondent’s questions about an open door at Robb Elementary School.
For its part, the school said it is cooperating with investigators.
“USISD has worked and will continue to work with law enforcement who are investigating the event. Because the investigation is ongoing and information is evolving, we will reserve comment until all state and federal agencies have completed their review,” the statement read.
