A man broke into a Dallas museum last Wednesday night and destroyed more than $5 million worth of antique and “irreplaceable” art because “he got mad at his girl,” authorities said.
According to reports, Brian Hernandez, aged 21, decided to vent his anger by breaking into at the Dallas Museum of Art and smashing multiple containers, bowls and figurines valued at $5,153,000 dollars, according to an arrest warrant obtained by NBC 5.
Hernández allegedly used a metal chair to break the entrance of museum glass around 9: 21 pm. Once inside, he used a stool to destroy the “rare and irreplaceable” art pieces, police said.
He allegedly told museum guards that they found him with the destroyed items because “he got mad at his girl, so he broke in and started destroying property,” according to the arrest document.
The guards made Hernandez sit on a bench while they called to the police. When the officers arrived, they arrested him for his criminal acts for more than $300, dollars first.
According to surveillance and police footage, Hernandez allegedly destroyed two ancient painted vessels, a Greek amphora dating from the 6th century BC. C. and a Greek pyx dating from the 5th century BC. C., which had a combined value of $5 million.
