The case of the teacher accused of sexually abusing a student in Pennsylvania is the second reported in the school, and both involve music educators.
Jonny Priano, of 37 years, was a music teacher and director of the school band at Wilmington Area High School, when he was accused of improper conduct with several students. The complaints against the educator indicate that he tickled the feet of female students.
Priano’s case is pending in a Lawrence County court; a preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 29 before Judge John W. Hodge. Priano faces 10 charges of institutional sexual assault, two of improper contact with minors, 10 of corruption of minors and two of endangering the welfare of a child.
One of the victims, who had more direct contact with the teacher, said that the tickling sessions began when she was 16 years and continued until 18 after she entered Youngstown State University.
In the case of Olivia Lois Ortz, of 26, she became involved with a student from 17 to the point that the victim spent nights with her at her home.
The educator was accused of having sexual relations or sexual contact with a student, illegal contact with a minor for sexual offenses and using the media for these purposes.
Ortz’s husband was the one who alerted the authorities of the alleged prohibited relationship t after discovering indecent conversations on the woman’s iPad.
Ortz resigned from his position at the school on May 9 after the investigation against him began.
This week, the suspect resigned from the preliminary hearing of the case, so it is not ruled out that she may plead guilty.
