Argentine coach Néstor Lorenzo, Colombia’s new coach, will remain on the bench at Melgar de Arequipa until the end of the round of 16 of the Copa Sudamericana and regardless of the luck of the Peruvian club in that instance.
“We inform our fans that Néstor Lorenzo and his technical command will remain in charge of our squad until the end of the round of 16 of the Conmebol Sudamericana 2022”, Melgar announced this Friday on his Twitter account.
In the round of sixteen of the South American Championship, Melgar will clash with a Colombian club, Deportivo Cali.
The Arequipa institution wished “the greatest success” at the head of the Colombian team, who for many years was assistant to Néstor Pekerman, today Venezuela’s coach,
The club added that former soccer player Lorenzo, who was Pekerman’s assistant during the time he led the coffee team, has worked in Peru “with great professionalism and quality human”.

The Colombian Football Federation announced this Thursday the hiring of Néstor Lorenzo to direct its senior team for the next four years and with the challenge of taking it to the World Cup 2026.
Lorenzo replaces the Colombian Reinaldo Wheel.
