Chelsea Cooley, a 31 year-old Pennsylvania woman, was charged with criminal homicide in the death of her three-year-old son, who had four baby wipes babies stuck in her throat.
On the night of 28 in May, the Pennsylvania State Police responded to the emergency call regarding a child who was choking on baby wipes.
A day later, the child died at UPMC Children’s Hospital, apparently unable to recover from his injuries.
However, the autopsy revealed that the infant suffered large bruises and that the cause of his death was a homicide due to manual strangulation and suffocation, authorities said.
Tribune-Democrat obtained a complaint affidavit in which Chelsea Cooley told officers she put the boy to bed around 7: 30 pm on Saturday 28 May.
The m The woman pointed out that the boy allegedly did not eat lunch or dinner during the day. According to his account, at approximately 8: 30 pm, he noticed that the minor was unresponsive and that he had apparent baby wipes stuck in his throat.
Reports indicate that emergency personnel removed four baby wipes from the victim’s throat before he was transported to the hospital.
The affidavit obtained by the Tribune-Democrat alleges that the baby products were so far down the boy’s throat that he could not have put them there himself.
Likewise, it indicates that marks were found on the upper part of the child’s chest and neck, which seemed to have been caused by the hand of an adult.
The police reported that on 31 May, The mother was charged with criminal homicide, endangering the welfare of children, aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a victim under the age of 6, est rangulation, simple assault, and reckless endangerment of another person.
Cooley is being held at the Bedford County Correctional Center without bond.
