In the last report of the Bank of Mexico (Banxico) on Income and Expenditures from Remittances corresponding to the month of April 2021, it was announced that Mexicans in the United States United States sent $4,718 million dollars, which implied an annual increase of 16.6%.
On the other hand, remittances sent abroad by residents of Mexico showed an annual increase of 31.4%, upon reaching a level of $114 million dollars.
With these results, the surplus of the remittance account of Mexico with the rest of the world was $4,605 million dollars, higher than $3,962 million dollars that was filed in the same month as 2021.
Mexicans who work in the United States continue to be great generators of dollars for the Mexican economy and the Central Bank reports that in the period do January – April 2022, the value of income from remittances was $17,300 million dollars, amount greater than $14,664 million dollars observed in the same period of 2021 and which meant an annual advance of 17.6%.
During the first four months of 2022 , 99% of the total income from remittances was made through electronic transfers, when located in $ 17,057 million dollars.
For their part, remittances made in cash and kind and money orders represented 0.7 and 0.3% of the total amount, respectively, when registering levels of $126 and $57 million dollars, in the same order.
Outflows from remittances reached $384 million dollars in the period January – April 2022, amount higher than $300 million dollars reported in the same period of 2021 and which involved an annual growth of 27.9%.
Banxico indicates that with these results, the surplus balance of the remittances account during the period January – April 2022 was $14,962 million dollars, figure higher than the of $,363 million
dollars observed in January – April 2021 and which represented a annual increase of 17.4%.
The accumulated figures for the last twelve months (May 2021 – April 2022), the accumulated flow of income from remittances was $54,240 million dollars, higher than the accumulated flow side to twelve months
registered in previous March of $53,384 million dollars (April 2021 – March 2022).
