América would be looking to finalize the return to Liga MX of Celta de Vigo’s Mexican central defender, Néstor Araujo, according to Mexican portals on Monday.
According to TUDN México, the main reason why América would seek to seal Araujo’s pass would be because he would not occupy a position as a foreigner; however, the defender recently rejected an offer from FC Juárez.
America would seek to tie the lanky defender with an economic offer that would far exceed what he earns at Celta de Vigo. However, they consider that he will try to stay in Spanish football for at least one more season to get to the World Cup in Qatar 2022.
As if that were not enough, Araujo has also become indispensable for the defense of Argentine Eduardo Coudet. In the previous season, Araujo played 34 La Liga matches, seeing action in 2,550 minutes.
Similarly, the portal assured that Tigres is also considering Araujo as a possible reinforcement for the Apertura 2022.
The Eagles have also considered other options in case they cannot finalize Araujo’s arrival; Puebla’s central defender, Israel Reyes, also appears as one of the possible reinforcements, but his team is trying to retain him for at least one more short tournament.
In the event that América manages to close an agreement with Néstor Araujo, the player of 30 years would return to play in the Liga MX four years after playing his last match defending the Santos Laguna shirt.
