Due to a “family emergency”, former Donald Trump campaign manager, Bill Stepien, will not appear before the Select Committee on January 6.
“Due to an emergency relative, Mr. William Stepien is unable to testify before the Select Committee this morning,” said a statement from the House Committee. “His lawyer will appear and make a statement in the registry.”
Stepien was at the head of former President Trump’s campaign when he claimed that there was electoral fraud and sought to annul the election of 2020.
Stepien’s decision arises after reports that the Committee has enough evidence for a prosecutor to file charges against the former president for his attempt to cancel the certification of Electoral College votes.
This Monday’s hearing will continue with various testimonies, including Chris Stirewalt, former Fox News political editor; Benjamin Ginsberg, Republican election attorney; former federal prosecutor BJ “BJay” Pak; and Al Schmidt, former Philadelphia City Commissioner.
