The NBA forward and former Los Angeles Lakers player, Montrezl Harrell, is accused of drug trafficking after he was arrested by the police in May for allegedly having at least three pounds of marijuana in his car .
Echoing a medium from Charlotte, where Montrezl Harrell currently plays for the Hornets, TMZ Sports reported this Monday that last 12 in May, the power forward was arrested for driving very close to a vehicle in front of him and later noticing the smell of Marijuana that came from the car.
According to the police report , Harrell admitted to smoking weed and took a small amount out of his pockets; however, after police searched his vehicle, they allegedly found three pounds of marijuana in vacuum-sealed packaging.
For this, the NBA player could face at least five years in prison if found guilty on drug charges. In the same way, the conviction would carry an economic fine.
It should be remembered that in North Carolina, possession of marijuana is decriminalized in small amounts, but remains illegal. Those who are arrested with a few grams of the plant face economic fines, but the penalty increases as the quantity confiscated is greater.
After the events, Harrell would have been released on bail after his detention and it is expected that in the next few days the authorities will proceed with the reading of charges against the tall defender.
