Qatar expects to receive some 34 million passengers at its two airports during the year 2022 and estimates that the number of visitors during November and December, in which the World Cup will be played, could reach 8.9 million, according to a report by the Qatari General Civil Aviation Authority. .
This authority published this Monday estimates on the number of passengers that will pass through the two airports in Qatar – Hamad International and Doha – during 2022, after the reduction of health restrictions imposed by many countries around the world due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“According to the indicators with those we have and especially with the recovery of international air traffic from the negative effects of the pandemic (…) an increase is expected between 90 % and the 105 % or more in air traffic during this year, comparing the numbers with 2021”, according to the report.
He highlighted that he made two types of estimates: some “conservative” and others more “optimistic” about passenger traffic , so the former place the figure at 13 million and the latter at 36 millions.
The report pointed out that the most notable increase in passengers will be seen during the two months in which the M Cup world, which will take place between November and December of this year.
Only in that period, it is estimated that there will be between 7.000 and 8.9 million passengers in this country of just three million inhabitants.
