The Brazilian Marcelo Vieira said goodbye in tears after 16 years at Real Madrid, with a speech full of emotion along with the 25 titles that made him the most successful player in the club’s history, in front of his family, president Florentino Pérez, coach Carlo Ancelotti and teammates like Dani Carvajal and Marco Asensio, to whom he confessed he felt “lucky” for having made history.
After watching a video with all his achievements, moves and unforgettable goals, moments for the eternal memory of Real Madrid, and listening to the praise of President Florentino Pérez, Marcelo had a hard time containing his emotion from his first word. In a suit and black shirt, grateful for an unforgettable farewell along with the trophies won.
“I wanted to thank the club, the teammates I’ve had (breaks down crying), the luck of playing for all this years; to the coaches, to the props who are like family to me, the people who work in the residence, the members of security, those who work behind the scenes and do the dirty work. We only dedicate ourselves to playing football and for us to do it well, there is a job behind the scenes that I learned at Real Madrid”, he said in recognition of the club’s workers.
“I want to thank the best club in the world for being able to enjoy this. We are doing what we like, and we have everything to enjoy. I have woken up every day of my life with the joy of being in the best club in the world, making history and that my children see that I was able to play in the best possible place”, he added.

A special moment was experienced when Marcelo made reference to his wife , Clarice Alves, sitting in the front row with her two children. “I want to thank my wife, who has been by my side since I began my life as a footballer and has given me two wonderful children, plus the zoo that I have at home,” he joked.
“We have formed a family together, and if I am what I am and today I have the strength that I have, surely it is because of you, Clarice. When I left Brazil I had in mind to play in a big European team, I arrived with 18 on a wonderful adventure, I thought I could reach high and leave here being the player who has won the most titles in the history of the best club in the world”, he added.
Marcelo asked for it to be a nice day despite the emotions, proud of the image he leaves behind in Real Madrid. “It is not a sad day, it is a happy day. We cry for emotions and memory. I go out with my head held high, my family is very proud of me. I’m lucky. I have achieved everything with work, with talent, and I have been lucky to have my people by my side. I look at the titles and I see that I have done what I had to do”.
In addition, Marcelo feels that a part of him remains at Real Madrid thanks to his son Enzo, one of the young pearls of the quarry. “The future of Real Madrid is very strong. We can be calm, because it is very promising as always. I include my son, who is in the quarry”.
“I arrived as a child and I I am going to be a very happy man”, he stated before being awarded the Real Madrid gold and diamond badge and posing with all the titles he had won.
