A Michigan man was left without arms after an explosion occurred in a property filled with an arsenal of weapons, bombs and ammunition, authorities reported last Saturday.
The victim , about 30 years old, who has not yet been identified, remained in critical condition due to the explosion that occurred in the city of Warren on Saturday at 3: 16 pm
After the explosion, the garage was destroyed by a subsequent fire that engulfed other areas of the home on the block 20700 on Gentner Street, according to Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer.
“The state police were called and they removed several small explosive devices, and I can only suspect that he has been working on some type of explosive device and it blew up,” Dwyer told the Detroit Free Press on Sunday. go.
The commissioner added that he was extremely fortunate that there were no more injuries, considering the volume of explosives inside the property. None of the neighbors were injured and the surrounding houses were not damaged.
Dwyer revealed that the victim was under investigation before the explosion due to his criminal past. He currently remains in a coma and is being treated at Detroit Receiving Hospital.
The affected man’s criminal history is longstanding. It mainly involves charges of weapons and manufacture of explosive articles, Dwyer stressed, alleging that he carried out an illegal arms operation from his home.
Following the explosion, police carried out a search warrant, and found a dozen weapons, including rifles and pistols, loaded rifle-style autoloaders, about 4,000 rounds of ammunition and small explosive devices, reported The Detroit News.
The incident was attended by the Warren Fire Department, Michigan State Police Bomb Squad, and Warren Police Officers.
