Philip Baker Hall, actor known for his roles in films such as ‘Boogie Nights’ and ‘Magnolia’ and series such as ‘Seinfeld’ and ‘Modern Family’, died at 40 years old.
His wife, Holly Wolfle Hall confirmed the news to the Associated Press stating that he died on Sunday in Glendale, California surrounded by his loved ones.
Hall had an impressive career spanning six decades with roles in some of the most acclaimed movies and television series of the modern era.
His most memorable roles include the role of Director of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in Say What They Say, Sydney: Gambling, Prostitution and Death, Floyd Gondolli in Boogie Nights: Games of Pleasure, Jimmy Gator in Magnolia, Jack Gaylor in Almighty, Sherwood Morill in The Zodiac Killer and the director of the CIA on Argo.
As for television, Hall did more than 200 guest appearances including or the Seinfeld series, the Larry David Show and Modern Family.
Hall was born in Toledo Ohio on 10 September 1931 and began his career as a translator for the United States Army in Germany and as a high school teacher before pursuing his acting career at the age of 40 years old.
