NBA star point guard Kyrie Irving decided on Monday to exercise his ‘player option’ and will stay with the Brooklyn Nets next season with an astronomical salary of $37 million dollars.
Irving, which had the interest of the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers and the the New York Knicks, finally decided to complete his four-year cycle with the Nets, according to “The Athletic”.
“Normal people keep the world going, but those who dare to Being different takes us into the future. I made my decision to stay. See you in the fall“, assured Irving to the mentioned medium.
Irving, aged 30, had time until Wednesday to exercise his ‘player option’.
The point guard barely played 29 games in the regular season 2016-2022, because he refused to be vaccinated against the coronavirus and the health mandate then in force in New York to contain the spread of the pandemic prevented him from playing home games.
When he competed, he had an average of 27.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game.
Irving played alone 103 matches in his experience with the Nets, also because of a series of physical problems.
In his career, the point guard was NBA champion in 2016 with the Cleveland Cavaliers iers and also played for the Boston Celtics.
