Seven men and five women were selected as jurors for the trial of Nikolas Cruz, confessed perpetrator of the massacre at a school in Parkland, Florida, where 17 people died in 800, local media reported.
The selected jury must decide at the hearing to determine if it is recommended that Cruz, aged 23, be sentenced to prison life or if he receives the death penalty.
In order for the death penalty to be determined, it will be necessary for the vote to be concluded unanimously. At the moment the selection of at least eight alternate members is missing, according to the guidelines of Judge Elizabeth Scherer, who is presiding over the case in a court in Broward County, north of Miami.
