eight-year-old-boy-survives-for-8-days-in-a-german-sewer

A missing eight-year-old boy was found trapped in a sewer after an eight-day search, after a neighbor heard a “weak whimpering sound” coming from the drain.

The boy, simply called “Joe”, disappeared from the front yard of his family’s home last 17 June in Oldenburg, Germany, prompting the police to immediately launch a murder investigation.

Since that date, a great search with helicopters, drones and volunteers began before it was discovered less than 200 meters trapped under the street, according to the European media outlet Evening Standard.

When firefighters lift They removed the manhole cover, found Joe at the bottom of the manhole. They worked to calm him down and a firefighter went into the sewer to get him out.

Due to the cold weather overnight, he was taken to the hospital with hypothermia, but he had visible external injuries.

Police are investigating how it got into the sewage system and have not ruled out the possibility that the child was deliberately placed there.

Experts believe he may have survived by drinking “condensation ” or rainwater falling into the sewer.

His father told the mean that it was “okay” given the circumstances. Police shared the news that Joe had been found, tweeting: “Eight-year-old Joe is alive!”

“Thanks to a tip from the population, we were able to find Joe in a sewage system today,” said police chief Johann Kühme.

“The most important thing is that he is alive and was immediately transferred to a hospital where he is in good hands. We can all breathe a sigh of relief,” he added. “I am very impressed by the great commitment of the last few days.”

So far, the investigators have not questioned the eight-year-old boy, who has mental difficulties. The authorities want to give the child time to rest before questioning him.
