The grandmother of the author of the Uvalde massacre was discharged this Tuesday after being admitted to University Health, in San Antonio, Texas.

The 66 year old woman was the first victim of Salvador Ramos, responsible for the past shooting 24 May, who shot him in the face before heading to Robb Elementary School, where he murdered 18 students and two teachers.

Steve McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, testified before the state Senate on past 21 June that the investigators had not been able to question the grandmother about what happened on the day of the massacre.

Nevertheless, McCraw stressed that she was willing to speak after leaving the hospital, but on the condition that her daughter be present.

Ramos, from 18 years old, posted a message on Facebook the day of the shooting in the morning in which he warned that he was going to shoot his grandmother. Minutes later, the teenager stated that he shot him, according to the investigation by the authorities.

Rolando Reyes, husband of Ramos’s grandmother, stated in statements to CNN in May that his wife was shot that pierced the jaw and the upper part of the cheek, for which she would need surgery reconstructive.

In statements to Telemundo 60 San Antonio, neighbors of the Ramos family recounted how the grandmother left her house bloodied and asked for help.

“A lady came all covered in blood, with a bullet in her forehead. She was leaving the house as if scared, grabbing her neck and up on her head, but covered in blood. Poor lady,” declared a resident of the area, who preferred to remain anonymous.
