mexican-boxer-who-asked-to-stop-her-fight-to-“get-home-alive”-announced-her-retirement-from-the-ring

The Mexican boxer Alma Ibarra fought this Saturday what was her last fight as a professional boxer against Jessica McCaskill, after she herself announced her retirement from the ring on Tuesday.

Although it was something she had thought about doing for a while, the fight against McCaskill took her to a point of desperation so high that she begged them to stop the fight, because as she herself said, she wanted to get home alive .

“It is easy to criticize without knowing the background of things. For six months I entered a depression and it was very difficult for me to even get out of bed to train and I had decided to retire. I allowed myself to be convinced that it was not the right thing to do without seeking help”, confessed Ibarra.

In the middle of the tirade the opportunity to fight again arose and he felt the hope of achieving everything he had worked for for more than years.

“I accepted the fight and it was perhaps one of the biggest mistakes I made, since those were very complicated. We had an incredible camp closure which we were excited about. Physically I had never been better, but something deep inside me was still not right. I ignored him and at the crucial moment my mind collapsed”, added Alma Ibarra.

In this Saturday’s fight McCaskill was always superior and managed to hit the boxer’s humanity on multiple occasions Mexican. That is why just before the start of the fourth round, Ibarra begged to end the fight.

“Nerd. I just want to get home alive“, the Mexican told coach Jorge Capetillo, and that was when the judge stopped the fight.

“I should have left much earlier, when I felt that everything was too much, but I usually please everyone before me, until Saturday night”, said Ibarra.

It was precisely that moment that made her understand that the time had come to hang up her gloves and get out of the ring.

“ After 15 years I say goodbye to boxing. A retirement that I had postponed for six months and today gives me peace and tranquility that my life needs“, he concluded.
