Texas Governor Greg Abbott blamed United States President Joe Biden after 50 dead migrants were found inside the bed of a trailer in San Antonio.
Although at first there was talk of 42 deceased people, later it changed to 46 and currently the number of victims is 50.
The state president used his Twitter account to make the claim.
“At least 42 people found dead inside a truck carrying migrants in Texas. These deaths are on Biden. They are the result of his deadly open border policies. They show the deadly consequences of their refusal to enforce the law,” Abbott said on a social network.
The bodies of the dead migrants were found inside a trailer parked on the outskirts of San Antonio, a city located 240 kilometers from the border with Mexico.
While the survivors were taken to various hospitals to receive care.
The mayor of San Antonio, Ron Nirenberg, also expressed his sorrow for the migrant tragedy.
“Immigrants seeking asylum should always be treated as a humanitarian crisis, but tonight we are facing a terrible human tragedy.
“More than 40 hopeful lives. I urge you to think with compassion, pray for the deceased, the sick and their families at this time”, he wrote through his Twitter account.
For his part, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard, announced that in the trailer they found 50 people who died of suffocation, 22 Mexicans, 7 Guatemalans, 2 Hondurans and the identity of others has not yet been determined 19; 16 more were found alive, including four minors.
Authorities reported that so far there are three people arrested related to the event.
