At least 50 migrants were found dead inside a trailer in San Antonio, Texas, in an alleged case of human smuggling, as stated released by the US authorities.

According to official information, 16 people, 12 adults and four children, were transferred to different hospitals in the city after the authorities made a call about a “ mass casualty event.”

According to San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus, a worker who was near the location where the trailer was found heard the cry for “help.” coming out from inside the heavy vehicle around 17: 50 hours; the witness assured the police that the doors of the trailer were half-open and there were several lifeless people inside.

Bill McManus also indicated that three people were arrested in connection with the case.

During the conference offered this morning by the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, it was announced that the United States authorities have managed to identify 31 victims: 19 Mexicans, 7 Guatemalans and 2 Hondurans. The other 19 victims remain unidentified.

In Meanwhile, Republican Governor Greg Abbott blamed Joe Biden for the death of immigrants through a statement he released via Twitter.

“These deaths are because of Biden. They are the result of his deadly open border policies. They show the deadly consequences of his refusal to enforce the law,” he wrote.

Over the course of a year, Greg Abbott has invested thousands of dollars in state funds to increase the state’s police presence in Texas and National Guard soldiers on the border, however, have not been able to stop the flow of immigrants crossing from Mexico in search of a better life.

The authorities did not indicate in their moment how people had died, but they suggested that extreme heat had been the cause.
