As part of the Farewell Series of the MexTour, the Mexican team will go to California to play two games against two Conmebol teams next September, before the curtain opens on the World Cup in Qatar 2022.
The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) announced this Tuesday that El Tri will face its similar from Peru on Saturday 24 in September, at the legendary Rose Bowl in Pasadena. This stadium served as the venue for the United States World Cup finals 1994, as well as the Women’s World Cup in 1999.
The Farewell Series will continue in the Bay Area on Tuesday 27 in September, when Mexico faces the Colombian national team at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. It is worth noting that the home of the San Francisco 49ers, of the NFL, will serve as the official venue for the next World Cup of 2022.
These commitments present the last opportunity for Tri fans can see their team compete on US soil, before the Qatar event begins 2022. The two friendlies will be televised by Univision and TUDN.
The FMF also announced that Mexico will travel to Europe just before the World Cup, to face Sweden on Wednesday 16 in November, at the Montilivi Stadium in Girona (Catalonia, Spain). Tickets for the previously announced August 31 match in Atlanta against Paraguay are now available.
In addition to games in California, there will be a week of fan and media events as part of the farewell, in the greater Los Angeles area, including an open training session, special musical acts, community events, appearances by legends and a Media Day.
