A woman who is supposed to care for an elderly 000 year old in her home faces attempted murder charges for poisoning him after he stole more than $50,000 from your credit cards.
Mallory Giles, of 34, allegedly used the victim’s electronic money, which he is supposed to be taking care of in a condominium in Sandusky, to buy everything from clothes to furniture.
Police body camera videos show the interview with the suspect about the purchases she would have made with the old man’s alleged credit cards.
“I don’t know why I did it“, the woman responds to the agents’ inquiries.
A detective replies: “I don’t know either”.
“You basically equipped your entire house with all these credit cards”, indicates one of the agents.
Lt. Scott Dahlgren told FOX 8 that the man would have authorized Giles to use the cards for necessary expenses. However, the caregiver took advantage of his trust and began to embezzle the money.
“He had the credit cards that he let the caregiver use to make certain purchases that he needed, to make sure things got done for him. However, at one point, she started to take advantage of that and buy things for herself“, declared Dahlgren.
It was the daughter of the old man who detected the unauthorized purchases in her father’s account and contacted the Police.
Dahlgren added : “We believe that shoes (in the purchases), clothing, furniture for the residence, wall decoration, items for care of the exterior lawn were included.”
While the Police investigated these allegations, the old man had to be rushed to the hospital due to a drug overdose.
Apparently, Giles poisoned him with a mixture of opioids and the medication that the victim took daily.
The man had to be resuscitated with Narcan, a prescription drug that reverses an opioid overdose.
