kim-kardashian-is-being-sued-for-trademark-infringement

Stores, clothing brands, beauty brands, a reality show and even alcoholic beverages have made Kris Jenner and her five daughters (Kim, Kourtney, Khloé, Kendall and Kylie) the queens of television and business.

There is no doubt that the clan has been able to take advantage of the fame acquired with its program to monetize absolutely everything in its life. Kim was even named in 2021 by Forbes as one more member of the list of billionaires around the world thanks to a fortune estimated at one billion dollars, a figure that has increased in recent years. months.

However, Kanye West’s ex is now fighting the owner of a small business on the outskirts of Brooklyn called ‘Beauty Concepts’ who sued her for the naming rights of her skincare line: SKKN and SKKN BY Kim.

According to TMZ, plaintiff Cydnie Lunsford claims she owns the rights to ‘SKKN+’ and says Kim’s use of the brand name on her beauty products is misleading customers.

Now that legal action is underway, Kim’s attorney, Michael Rhodes, criticized the lawsuit as a “extortion effort”.

“This lawsuit is not what it seems . ‘SKKN BY KIM’ is a new brand that follows in the footsteps of Ms. Kardashian’s successful ‘KKW’ product line,” he said in a media statement.

“Based on the independent research and development, his company filed a trademark application for ‘SKKN BY KIM’ to protect new brand products. This fueled the current extortion effort,” he said.

Cydnie first served Kim with a cease and desist letter withdrawal in July 2021, claiming that his company has been providing salon and skin care services under the name ‘SKKN+’ since July 2017, but was ultimately ignored by the celebrity’s team and she went ahead with the launch of her own line anyway.

After closing her two previous beauty businesses , KKW Beauty and KKW Fragrance, earlier this year, Kim Kardashian decided to make a comeback, but this time launching a skincare brand, named ‘SKKN’ by Kim.

The new products, which were launched last 21 June, provide “rejuvenation, nutrition and a pleasant experience at home designed to help people feel safe with their skin”, as detailed in an interview.
