hispanic-girls-kidnapped-from-their-aunt's-house-in-florida-by-biological-parents-were-found-in-mexico

A 2-month-old baby and a 2-year-old girl who were kidnapped from a residence in Florida by their biological parents were found in Nuevo León, Mexico.

On Wednesday, 22 June, authorities in Fort Myers issued a missing children alert to find the whereabouts of Genesis Barrios, the youngest, and Yazmín Barrios.

The minors were located in Linares last Friday; they still remain in Mexico.

The parents of the girls, Evelin Sánchez-Rojas and Inmer Barrios are also in that country, although the authorities have not detained them.

Earlier this week, Fort Myers police sergeant Glenn Thompson said that an arrest warrant would be issued against Barrios as was done in the case of Sánchez-Rojas.

According to the WINK report, the girls were taken out of the country across the border by their parents.

Authorities detailed that they tracked the couple from Southwest Florida to Texas and Mexico using license readers of vehicles and by intervening in cell signal towers.

Officers in Mexico as well as federal marshals are collaborating with the investigation.

Fort Myers police arrested on Thursday to the minors’ aunt, identified as Iris Ozorio-Barrios, while she was in her housing in Maravilla Avenue.

Previously, on Monday, deputies from the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office had come to their home to inspect the girls.

Ozorio-Barrios, an aunt on his father’s side, had been awarded custody of the sisters on 16 June.

Thompson indicated that Ozorio-Barrios told them that Sánchez-Rojas traveled to his house and told him that a The judge had annulled the custody order in his favor. For her part, the mother would have told Ozorio-Barrios that she could take care of the girls as long as the father did not live in the same house.

The woman is charged with obstructing a criminal investigation by providing false information to officers and interfering with the custody of a minor.

The authorities would also be opening an additional investigation against the father headed by the Tampa Police Department that would have to do with allegations of sexual abuse of another minor with whom he has ties.
