A keeper at the Vinpearl Safari Zoo in Vietnam saved the life of an orangutan that was drowning in a local pond.

The video shows the ape trying to climb up a ramp concrete but accidentally fell into the water; despite struggling not to sink, it disappeared under the surface.

Seeing the animal’s desperation, the zoo worker jumped into the lagoon with a life preserver to pull the orangutan out of the water.

Once outside, the man performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him to revive the animal.

Thanks to the worker’s courage and empathy, he fortunately managed to save the animal’s life.

Local media affirm that the cause of the incident was due to a tourist threw food at the orangutan but it fell into the pond, so the animal almost died in its attempt to grab the food.
